Cichlids are not Chiclids

by Chuck on Feb.19, 2008, under Misc topics

It is a common mistake to spell cichlids, chiclids. There are a couple of correct terminologies to identify this type of fish. One is cichlid the other is cichlidae and both reference that they come from the family cichlidae.

A dictionary definition for you…

cich·lid (sĭk’lĭd)
n.   Any of various tropical and subtropical freshwater fishes of the family Cichlidae, many of which are popular as aquarium fish.
