Daily Tank Check
An often overlooked process when owning an aquarium is your daily aquarium checks. It ensures that simple unexpected catastrophe’s don’t occur. Most often a tank check will not take more than a passing glance or two so at most a few seconds of your time will ensure everything is running correctly.
A basic checklist to remember is..

Check your water level is not low – add water if not correct

Check your lights are working – replace bulbs or tubes.

Check electricals – make sure there are no frayed wires and everything looks neat and tidy. Make sure there are no tangles and that everything looks safe.
Check air – make sure your air supply is working as intended.
Check the tank for leaks or bowing of the glass
Check plumbing or hoses to your filtration to make sure it is not gunked up with algae, waste, salt (if you have a marine tank) etc
Check aquascaping and rearrange as necessary.
Remove injured or sick inhabitants and place in a quaranteen tank for treatment.

Check for dead or missing fish – This will avoid fouling of the water, bacterial growth and a number of other potential problems
Check for excessively aggressive fish and remove.
Check for uneaten food and remove.
